After giving the world the Englishman’s game of cricket, London has gained the reputation of enthralling sports lovers with its stadiums that can fill even a sports non enthusiast with awe. The sheer expanse of Lords is truly breath taking. Located in St. John’s Wood, the Cricketing History that has been created on those grounds comes alive as you are guided through the pitch and the stands, as you are shown where the commentators sit and how the cameras capture the game from various angles. Another cricket stadium, The Opal, is located in Kennington. Apart from cricket, football is the game which tops the popularity charts in London, and the city’s three League football Clubs bear testimony to the huge fan following of Londoners to the game.
London is also the chosen destination for the upcoming Olympics of 2012, and it is the only city to have been chosen thrice for hosting the event.
